No more bombs bursting in air,

no more living with hatred and fear,

there were no more worries, no cares,

he was home,

back from the war,

God, how he missed his wife,

he knocked on the door,

heart on the floor,

knowing that she was his life,

he leaned back,

waiting for her passionate attack,

he would welcome that,

as he removed his hat,

he simply would be yielding to the magic

influence of her love,

he could hear the expectant

beating of his heart,

his need for her was immense,

and she opened the door,

he felt that sudden sense

of satisfaction and completeness,

no longer alone,

in a crowded world,

this soldier was finally home.
