The role of head of the home is evolving in subtle but not so subtle ways.

In years past

It was the man

That was considered

The head of the home

- – -

We’re all aware

That in today’s world

A woman is viewed

As having that role also

- – -

This is especially so

If she’s a single Mom

And brings home

The bacon

- – -

Many social critics

Debate if this is

A good idea for kids

Some argue

That children need

A father figure

- – -

I however

Hardly ever heard

It said

That kids need

A mother figure

But why?

- – -

It’s true

That having both parents

Are the best thing

But with the divorce rate

Almost at 50 percent

And the economy

The way it is

Many persons are choosing

To skip the wedding bells

- – -

That’s why adoption

And gay marriage

Are options

That society can’t

Lose sight us

For we’re evolving

In subtle

And not so subtle ways

A woman is equal in my sight, whether she brings home the bacon or not.She is my partner, nothing less. I do feel, however, that she could never replace the role of the father. A child needs both parents. There are many single women in the role though.

For as long as the child is being loved by a mother alone or a father, the child can grow normal.

Whatever the circumstance, make the most of it.

I wish you could come to see the “things” that live with me.
