Poetry for relationships that end.

I revealed my treasured secrets

Kept in a dusty drawer

To you I gave it all

You knew my heart

Time chased us closely

On our heels still no escape

I cushioned myself

For the fall

That surely would come

Share your life, climb the skies

Words spoken with a silken tongue

You couldn’t look into my eyes

When daylight seeped though

The tattered curtains

Your words were unspoken

I didn’t wish to hear your voice

Covered my ears in fear

Only when you embraced me

For the last time

I knew I couldn’t never be your choice
