These Are Assignment Poems I Did In School…
What happens to a heart in love?
Does it taste like the first chew into a piece of bubble-gum?
Does it smell the sweet fragrance of your partners’ neck?
Does it make you visualize him or her waiting for you in their best suit or dress?
Does it resemble the soft touch of a baby’s cheek or their sweet caress?
Or does it just sound like the words of William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe blended together to make a symphony of love?
Broken Heart
What happens to a broken heart?
Does it taste like the salty sea while you’re drowning and swallowing water?
Does it smell like a forgotten rotten corpse hidden in your ventilation system?
Does it remind you of a lost puppy too frightened to approach your trembling hand?
Does it rip you open like being stood-up by your first date on a cold night?
Or do you just hear the soft, cold gusts whispering her name to you as you lay, hesitating to sleep?
