Years ago, a man named Bell introduced us to the telephone,
Now, in America, they are likely found in almost every home.
The same is true in other countries, through the world today,
However this invention’s made many changes along the way.
Then if Mr Bell came back at this time and took us by surprise,
I doubt he’d recognize the telephone that sits before his eyes.
Whatever type it was, it would not resemble his pride and joy,
And perhaps he might think that it is nothing but a child’s toy.
They’ve changed and will continue to, with the passing of time,
Before you realize it yours could be outdated and so will mine.
Today the party can be seen, with the older ones, barely heard,
Unless you had a party line, with some hearing your ever word.
Even today, there’s ditracting times, when I’m talking to a friend,
Having a nice chat, when they get a beep and it comes to an end.
My complaints are few, considering the advantages I am afforded,
I will just call my friend, if he is not there, my message is recorded.
