Poetry.

As soon as you said “goodbye”
You put your wall back up.
I break my nails
Trying to claw through.

As soon as you said “goodbye”
You detached your outward emotions.
I searched for my needle
To sew it all back together.

As soon as you said “goodbye”
Your cold eyes froze my heart.
I try to rekindle the flame.
In an attempt to prevent hypothermia.

And now, I only listen for “hello”
In hopes that by goodbye you meant “see you soon.”
Until then, I’ll hold on.
And try to warm up to this world again.
