The frustrations of an extremely slow laptop last week almost brought me to screaming pitch, so I went out and bought a new desktop. What a difference.

I’m feeling so stressed and ready to scream

As I sit at the desk in dismay.

I’ve got writing to do and e-mails to send

And so much else to complete today.

But my computer seems to be on a go slow

And will not respond to commands.

All the tasks that I usually need to do

Have been taken right out of my hands.

*

I’ve been given so much good advice

From friends both near and far.

I’ve been told to clean discs and registry

And defragment, which seems quite bizarre.

I’ve removed lots of history and cookies,

Though I haven’t got much idea

Of what all this means or what it will do

Or if it’s a panacea.

*

I think I will have to close down for the night.

Perhaps it just needs a good rest,

And when I come on in the morning

I will no longer be feeling so stressed.

I’ll switch on with some trepidation

To find everything’s working like new,

And all the jobs that I had to put on hold

I then will be able to do.

*

IT’S STILL NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!

THAT’S IT! I’M GETTING A NEW COMPUTER TODAY!

  • Mike Godfrey on Sep 13, 2011

    Loved the poem.
My laptop has 2 speeds – slow and even slower. I’m sure it sits there poking its tongue out at me.
Hope the new one is behaving.

  • Ruby Hawk on Sep 14, 2011

Christine, I hope a new one clears up your problems. My computer gave me fits yesterday and it’s not old enough to replace. I think mine needs some updating or something.

  • Tulan on Sep 14, 2011

My computer has it’s days. Some days I could pull my hair out, but that would do no good and I’d be bald headed.

  • CA Johnson on Sep 14, 2011

I loved your poem. I know how you feel. My computer was acting up yesterday too. I was ready to scream or throw something because I had to keep restarting it. It is working for now and I hope that your computer will be back to normal soon.

  • Jimmy Shilaho on Sep 14, 2011

Good for you my friend, at least the frustration is over.

  • LadyElena on Sep 15, 2011

I am glad you are enjoying your new computer. Hope it has a warranty too.

    Nice poem.

  • Gail Nobles on Sep 15, 2011

I know just how you feel. If I decide to buy a new one, I’m getting another operating system. It will not be Windows. Every time you update, everything else gets out of date. I can’t afford to buy a new computer each time this happens.

  • athena goodlight on Sep 16, 2011

That’s one of the reasons why I’m so loyal to desktops. Besides, a laptop can only give me limited a monitor size. Nice work!

  • papaleng on Sep 16, 2011

I have been there too. It is really irritating. Thanks you have a brand new one.

  • FX777222999 on Sep 17, 2011

    Well explained with beautiful poetry!

Interesting poem. I also had some problems with laptop. My first laptop refused to cooperate and gave me no choice, but to dump it. The 2nd one was a little bit better, it pretended to die and the repair gave it a hit. It is still in service at the moment.

I think Microsft build a go slow in there OS so that we have to get another puter.

It seems no mater how often you clean up and de-frag the dam thing gets slower and slower.

  • johnnydod on Sep 18, 2011

Of course it should have been “Their OS”

  • macherie on Sep 18, 2011

im having the same problem as well..arghh

I’m so glad you bought a new desktop and are enjoying it. I was going to suggest some computer housekeeping (as described above) but because I tend to waffle on so much in emails, I thought I would probably end up confusing you. Good for you – you solved your problem. :-)

  • Angry Bulk on Sep 29, 2011

I used to be a techncian. First thing to do is always restart your computer! :)
