Hooray, it’s that melodic tune again, passing from street to street.

Hooray, it’s that melodic tune again,

passing from street to street.

And when the music stops,

it means it’s time to run outside,

with your coins and notes,

ready to stand and queue,

in line for your lollies, wafers and ice creams,

be it vanilla with flake, strawberry,

chocolate and all different flavours,

some of which are brand new,

or you can choose orange crush lollies,

coco cola, raspberry or tropical flavour,

yes, they’re all there to pick and choose,

but ensure you know which flavour you want,

before it moves off onto the next street,

and then you will have to wait your turn all over again,

and when it comes second time round, you can rejoice,

and tell everyone, “Here comes the ice cream van!”

This poem has made me hungry for ice cream and I’m all out right now. I guess I’ll have to go soon and buy me some more.

One of my fondest childhood memories is that anticipation when we saw the ice cream man up the street heading our way. :o )
