Written by Christian Amber Miles.

Another busted headlight,

Or another life less spent.

Waiting on the outside of the pool.

I’m looking in, and you’re drowning in mess.

Everday a cape hangs around my neck,

Falls like golden shreds.

Everyday is another life worth living,

Another one saved instead.

While others are looking inwards.

I float on top of this cloud.

Waiting for my night to end.

The light stops shining within,

Yet with everyday, another sin.

This cape has a chance to fly again.

Heroes are not in spandex or lace.

They’re every person. Every face.

No fancy names, or fancy cars.

Only the people on the streets,

Saving one another.

Never too far.
