Today I left my best friend,

And it broke my heart in two,

I kissed his nose and said goodbye,

And bid my confidant adieu

I made me sick to my stomach

To leave him behind like that,

But my parents say that it’s for the best,

And I give my old friend a pat.

I know that others will enjoy him,

But he made My life complete

And I’ll miss my old horse for as long as I live,

He was so honest and so sweet.

But I have to tell him goodbye,

He was the best friend that I could ask for,

And I cry as we drive away.
