We say things all the time without thinking a kind of autormatic pilot response and the above poem is about this.
Hi! How are you? Hi! How are you?
All I am saying in reality is hello,
I do not want to know how you are,
For I might really have to know, care,
After all it’s merely a greeting.
‘Bye” I call so easily it rolls smoothly
upon my pink tongue,
Flippant words tossed into air,
Actually all I mean is ‘See you soon”
not you’re gone for good.
I would not wish for you or me,
What I meant is I hope to see you soon.
“I must have you round for a meal”
Generosity spouts from full lips,
Time speeds on…unexpectedly we meet,
I say hurriedly, sweetly,
“I must have you over for a meal soon”
You’ve sadly gone away I heard,
Or is it that you’ve gone deaf when I say,
“I must have you round for a meal”
I am puzzled by the way your eyes glaze over
as I speak,
“I must have you over for a meal”
I sincerely mean the invite, but I’m
so busy, you know how it is.
Truly I did intend to meet with you,
There were just more important matters,
“No need to be huffy or hurt”
“Your special to me but you can wait”
I ‘m sure you understand.
“I cannot believe you’ve gone,
I never said good-bye”
You vanished in the air poof
!
Words….
Sometimes covered by well meaning,
politeness, I discover, realise,
Actually I don’t like or care for you,
Tis rude to say this to your face,
Thus I use my public face to put you
in your place.
Words.. words…words….
All I HEAR… WORDS… wafting in the air
