Remembering the night of a sexual assault.

In my arms he sank,
Like a tired boy whose legs
Had just given way,
Beneath a heavy burden of thirst.
Before I saw it, he moved ungracefully
To steal a kiss from my unsuspecting lips,
Drenching my face, with unfamiliar spit,
My cries, silenced by the thrust of his
Hand, were futile.
Under a strangers weight, the laughter
Drown away my pleas.
I’ve thought about him,
From time to time.
I reasoned away, every cloud in
The sky.
Touching stones, grass, sand,
Just to know where feelings end
And numbness begins.
But still, I can’t describe
The disconnection I felt,
Staring into my rapists
Blue eyes.
