A friend’s mother told him not to come visit her in hospital, she would call if he had to come.

His belief in you never faltered

there was nothing about you he ever doubted

Your words were always his gospel

You promised the truth you would always tell

So until you ever told him any different

he would always take it on board and listen

When you got ill you said you would call

you made him promise to ignore

the gut instinct telling him to say goodbye

Yet that same night you sadly died
