Coming back from a recent holiday the sight of England’s beautiful countryside from the plane was so welcome.

As the plane descends on land so green

Welcoming the traveller to arms serene,

Hearts at such beauty swell with pride

At the sight of our magnificent countryside.

Laid out in patches of colours so lush

Rich and bountiful ‘neath the evening sun’s blush.

A haven for those who from lands far away

Long to reach home by the end of the day.

Holidaying in resorts parched by the sun

Where consuming heat suppresses all fun,

A yearning for home and a cooling breeze

Brings thoughts of England’s glades and trees.

There is nothing quite like our mountains high

When the sun’s shining warmly from a clear blue sky,

And glistening waterfalls tumble down with such force

Plunging into rivers as they pursue their course.

I feel so proud of the beautiful views

And the array of blooms with their glorious hues.

And back here by the sea where I can lay my head

There is nothing so inviting as my own warm bed.
