A man’s view of his home land.

In the distance, I see snow covered mountains

rising majestic above me.  Tall and proud they stand

silently whispering, “Come, gaze from where I am.

Let your eyes behold a beauty so rare

this magnificent view that could never be seen

from your place down there.

Give wings to your spirit so that you may soar

rise to see home as never before.”

So I climb to the highest peak of them all

and stand in speechless reverent awe.

For what I see with mine own eyes

can be nothing less than man’s own paradise.

Sunlight sparkles off crystal blue waters

like diamonds set afire by the noonday sun.

And the wind blows lazily through green topped palm trees

leaving them to sway to and ‘fro

casting their shadows on the sand covered land below.

Fertile soil gives birth to olive trees

that stretch for miles on end

and lazy sheep graze idly on lush green grass

moistened by the dew our God did send.

Yes … this is my home.

Maybe not where I have chosen to be

nor where I plan to stay for all eternity

but for now, it is where I am meant to be.

And now I know that paradise for me

lies just outside my own front door.
