At the park in my hometown there are wooden, castle towers to defeat; and bridges to conquer to the delight of children and adults alike., Baby swings, a wide slide and sand thrill each tiny tyke. Large Norwegian pines surround the school, A gorgeous birch tree allows me to sit beneath it as I enjoy a gentle breeze to cool. Young girls enjoy practicing their pitching and batting skills on the small field at the bottom of the hill,Attired in purple, team uniforms and caps they prepare to soon perform with skill. “Frosty’s” Ice Cream Parlor is ALWAYS busy on main street , Who doesn’t enjoy a cool, refreshing, summer- time treat? The city dock is fun to watch boats of many kinds launch anticipating a glorious day on the lake, Some hope to perfect their tans or knee-boarding skills; Others make EVERY effort to bring home the great walleyes or northerns they take. The water flowing beneath the two bridges gushes by clean and fast, Little boys watch as their dropped twigs float past. Turtles and families crowd the middle of town every Wednesday race day, Frantically they hope theirs will be a winner at the close of the race,; with a ribbon and a prize as their pay. Purchases of toy boats, bows and arrows, and “Longville” shirts are quickly sacked to go along on LONG car trips with accompanying happy memories, Parents often forget budgets and try frantically each child to please. Thank-you Home town for the GREAT times “Up North” you’ve again given me! I can scarcely wait until next your Welcome sign I see.
