Recently I was asked if I had any poetry about Honor. This is the first one! Hope you enjoy it.
Honor is the bridge and passageway between
Comparing worth and penalty
Positioned by trust and hope inside seeds of trust
It’s true some events in life that occur over our lifetime are difficult to greet with a bow
For we sometimes recognize the missing honor on mans shoulders
Yet of course we acknowledge the truth that none of us are getting any younger
I remember that evening at the drive in movie
Children’s laughter spread across the open field like wildflowers
One passed by me, a sound wafting in the evening air close to my ears
“Slow down” another voice came
I looked to see this young girls struggle
The struggle all us younger children of the family remember well
The passion we had to keep up, to do what the big kids do
To run as fast
Then came a voice holier than thou
“I’m sorry her older sister said..”but I cannot help it that I can run faster than you”
And there I sat in the gripe of my heart
Remembering my own sisters need to surpass, to defeat, to conquer
But in equal portion was..
my own need to hurry up and put her in her place just ONE TIME
In that moment we were the same
Yet pitiful in a competition for approval
In meekness I choose to change my heart
To treat everyone as though they are doing their very best already.
To give our hands and comfort to those who are alone, or victims of any sorrow.

Can we agree on our equal portions of space while we travel our own journeys on this earth?
When I honor you, I honor myself also
For in you I recognize the gift we ALL have been given equally.
The Spirit of Love
The Spirit of Our Creator
The Spirit Worthy of ALL Honor
