This is a poem I wrote to honor Abraham Lincoln.
A sweet young boy born in Virginia, such a fortune lay ahead of your first step & word.
Oh now as a young man, remembering the struggle but still living on with your proud name of honor ahead of first grade.
Now an adult, more lay ahead, your great & your names remembered.
Oh New Salem, a sweet sacrilegious name not to be spoken in your presence, why nothing but granny can say will keep you from the honors that lay ahead at the White House.
Now, we mourn for our great abolitionist leader who restored America again has been sent to the light.
Oh dear is us, we are to stay while you rise from you cold, cold grave, a single light shows us to have no fear for god has brought his honored son to heaven.
Oh Abe Lincoln, so tall & honest, we are mourning & bow our heads to your grave you lay in.
