How to use DMPA?

can be used during breast-feeding;
reduces the risk of endometrial cancer, inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs and ectopic pregnancy.
Disadvantages of this method of contraception:
During the first few months after the injection can be observed bleeding between menstrual periods;
Can cause cessation of menstruation (amenorrhea). This condition is not dangerous and does not lead to permanent infertility;
May experience a slight increase in body weight;
There may be a headache;
After cessation of injections the appearance of menses and the onset of fertility (ability to conceive) occurs only after 6-9 months.
Contraindications:
pregnancy;
breast cancer;
vaginal bleeding of unknown origin;
viral hepatitis or liver tumor;
diabetes.
