As I walk through the gates, I notice the stench
I notice the crowd, I notice the frustration, I notice the happiness
I look over to my right and see a large man on the bench
Sitting there smoking a pipe with a sinful grin loving his success
I stumble across the benches and sit close to analyze him
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a sheet with his guesses

Again I look around to see if anyone can recognize this mess
They’re all glued to the track watching the horse that might change their life
No one takes the time to realize they’re horses under stress
No one wants to realize they’re on a constant orbit of the track
No one wants to realize they’re dedicated to one thing, nothing else
They’re only purpose is to carry the jockeys along their back
Mindless rocking horses that trot in the same spot and never stop
The horses wobble past turn 4 and show signs of fatigue
The jockeys stand up and whip the behinds of these rocking horses
Amazing Grace pulls ahead but shows symptoms of aggression
The jockey is pushing her, pushing her past her limits, abusing her
Amazing Grace passes the finish line only to throw her jockey off ahead of her
She keeps going as hard as ever and tramples over the thing that hurt her
With no hesitation she jumps over the gate and to the stables
The large man on the bench sighs as he checks his pocket watch
He just lost his life savings because of that little incident
The rest of the jockeys slow down their horses and check the trampled jockey
The jockey is sore with a broken leg, and is now rethinking the concept
Whether its right to push a horse into running the track for money
