Exhilaration a wonderful feeling.

Freedom his name and it fitted him so well

Shaking back his head welcoming

His mane so long and well groomed rippling along his neck

Those stoic eyes, looking right through me

Talking to me in his own way

Like a statue made of bronze, his coat glistening in the sunlight

Withers rippling as he moved closer

Pawing at the ground as if counting

Standing there

Daring me to get upon his back

Looking into his eyes, I understood

Grasping his mane, deftly jumping astride, bareback

Shivers of anticipation ran down my spine

Then he moved

First at a slow walk allowing me to balance

To feel secure

Only when knees gripped hard did he move

Gaining speed into a majestic trot

Over the pasture, through an open gate

Out there onto the open range free spirits together

Breaking into a gallop, we speed away

Wind rushing by lifting my spirits

At break neck speed, carrying effortlessly my weight

This stallion was proving his worth

Striding out

Nostrils flaring in the dizzy chase of freedom

Delicious its taste

The pounding inside my chest not from exertion but exhilaration

Blowing hard he turned for home

Slowing only as we reached the gate

Sweat dripping from my brow a testament to freedoms ride

That was one wild unforgettable moment
