After the loss of my crown problems have developed.

I woke up this morning and all was not well.

I had a pain in my head and my face it had swelled.

The crown that I’d lost just a few days ago

Had left behind problems which just seemed to grow.

**

A visit to the dentist did not bring me cheer.

Where once was the crown, there was pain quite severe.

The root had to be dug out as infection had set in,

And no amount of trying would bring forth a grin.

**

I was told that a denture would have to be fitted,

Something that my mother had and I’d always pitied.

I have visions of false teeth lying in a glass

Reminding me old age had really set in at last.

**

I’m feeling quite poorly as the ache will not go.

My Easter eggs wait for me all in a row.

I’ve never said no to chocolate before

But this is a pain that I just can’t ignore.

**

Don’t worry, I’ll be better before very long

And maybe be able to bring forth a song.

But for now I’ll let my hubby know I’m not well

And that I need looking after just for a spell.

I like this poem, but it reminds me of my pain, I hate the process & the doctor himself. Among 4 wisdom teeth, only upper right one healthy, lower right was extracted 9 yrs ago, upper & lower left are “time bomb”, reminded to extract but I have not bother yet, Another right upper molar did not give me problem, but Doc said “decay”, i said “ok fill up”, then he said “decay to the root”, need to do root canal with new crown, troublesome (4 visits) and also very very expensive.
Now I have to decide to chew food with right side or left side first before I say “hi” to doctor.
    Sigh, sigh…

This piece is so timely! I just came from the dentist and it hurt like hell!!

But hang on, it is too early to see nightmares of false teeth. If all else fails, go to the States.they are pretty good about this stuff.

  • lillyrose on Apr 7, 2010

sorry for your pain but don’t think of false teeth as old age creeping, just look at Jorden (Katie Price) she had all her teeth removed and false ones put in!!

  • Judi Eddy on Apr 7, 2010

Oh very well done…..ha ha my teeth are loose as I have a gum disease. the dentist said he would take them out and make me new ones. but I thought of all the needles and pain taking them out, I said definately not they can fall out by themselves. I am 50 and all still my own. good for another couple of years at least. ha ha Judi

I hope you feel better soon. Of all the aches, toothaches are the worst.

It has turned out well. You were able to create another beautiful poem from the situation, and your problem will be gone before you know it. A very creative piece.

I hate toothaches too and am fortunate that I have not had them for a very long time. I don’t every want to have a root canal done. Everyone I know who has had them talk about how painful they are. I’d rather have a tooth removed and will only do that if I can be given gas and put to sleep. Novocaine does not deaden enough pain and I’d rather not know what is going on but wake up and have it all over.

  • Goodselfme on Apr 8, 2010

Clever write and well said. Hope the pain leaves and never returns.

Thank you all for your sympathy, lol. Actually I am still in pain, but at least it has stopped me eating so with a bit of luck I might end up thinner.

    A pain in your head
    And you so sorely dread
    The dentist to meet
    Chocolates they shout
    But they’re not for today
    For eating just one
    With pain you will pay
    :)
