A poem about the pain of a broken heart.

There are some things I want to forget
But my heart just doesn’t know how
It holds on to the little pieces of hope
And wishes upon the falling star

There’s a feeling that won’t go away
A deep ache that is inside
I try to turn it off
Along with tears I cannot hide

They say first love is the worst
Inside you feel ready to burst
But you know it is already gone
So instead you sing a sad, sweet song

Why we are meant to know
How much love can hurt
Is still a mystery to me
But I know that God will lead
He knows what I need

First love will soar
Without a single care
It’s love you need more
In the end, it’s just air
