Life insurance, it stinks.

I feel a little numb and down today

I don’t want anyone to take my life away

A life policy I am trying to set up

Here now as I drink from my cold cup

I just had to phone direct line

Who had sent me a quote and combine

For life insurance for my little life

So full of hurt and pain and strife

£109.70 a month it will cost

Because of critical illness I’m tossed

On to the bed of no return

Just for some day when my ashes will burn

Insurance companies say they assess the risk when setting the rate. In fact, their actuaries are hired to make certain they never actually take a risk. Insurance companies do not gamble because they deal in such large numbers. They don’t know who is going to die but they know how many.

I am certain that your life is much more valuable then what some life insurance agent comes up with…

I am Okay and thanks for the comments. I was just a little shaken that its would cost me £109 a month and my husband only has to pay £25 a month. We can\’t afford that so I will not be getting covered and if I die my family get no money!

A good realistic article/story. I used to work in insurance sales myself for a while and life cover was viewed as a necessary evil.
here are other ttimes when cheap cover is offered with no medical checks like here in Oz. Look at a 101 policy where you should be able to get cover at levels you pay for at whats affordable to you.
    Cheers peter

    Nicely worded protest poem, Lily.
Who needs life insurence anyway? No pockets in a shroud. When I shuffle off this mortal coil they can stick my remains out for the bin-men, for all I care.

  • Lily River on Oct 20, 2009

Right on! Who needs life insurance so that some old dust bin can get it when you die so that you can get bloody put in the ground? Cheerio!

  • jimbob1 on Oct 20, 2009

Sounds like an extreme premium. Did you just go to one company/agent? Should contact an insurance broker who will try and find you the best premium…check with somone off shore and see if they have international policies. If you need a line on one, let me know. Might be understandable if it was a deadly disease, but debilitating is very different. Regardless of what an insurance agent says…you are worth a million and even that is a fire sale bargain. Thanks for sharing and keep your chin up bucky…

That is far too expensive. I should look around before you finally choose a good insurance. I like the poem.

I’m glad there’s no insurance for eternal life for there wouldn’t be any for an insecured human being. Cheer up my friend, we all share the same fate.

  • hallofwords on Oct 26, 2009

Nicely written and I agree. I think insurance is such a scam
