It is so easy to lose those pounds at Christmas with all the chocolate temptations around.

Image via Wikipedia

With Christmas round the corner

And festive food knowing no bounds,

I decided after a quick weigh in

That I needed to lose a few pounds.

***

So I cut out the high calorie treats

And anything that contained fat,

Then I ate lots of salad and fruit

And that I was sure would be that.

***

But that’s when the problem started.

I bought a selection box for my son.

I put it into his Christmas sack (he’s 36 now, lol)

And realised his shopping was done.

***

But that night as I watched TV

A craving too great to ignore

Sent me rummaging through his sack

And guzzling chocolate till I could eat no more.

***

Three pounds had gone down the pan

And the box I had to replace.

This time I hid it in the garage,

Out of sight and a much safer place.

***

But I’m sure you can guess what I did.

That night as I lay in my bed,

The craving overtook me again

And wouldn’t go until it was fed.

***

Three more pounds had gone to waste

But I persevered with the quest in hand.

I purchased a bigger and better box

And this time the guzzling was banned.

***

I pushed it to the bottom of the sack

And sellotaped the top up tight,

So that any temptation that overcame me

Would be defeated by the thought of a fight.

***

By now I had learnt my lesson

And my purse was feeling the strain.

After losing ten much needed pounds

I certainly wouldn’t give in again.

ahhahahaahahah lovely story Christine…. I think the best way is just not to have any goodies in the house, and then old father temptation cant reach out to you.

  • CA Johnson on Dec 27, 2009

This was so funny. I know your plight about chocolate, my friend. I am the same way.

  • LoveDoctor on Dec 29, 2009

Good for you! I know the feeling. Chocolate can be very tempting especially those Godiva milk chocolates wrapped in small boxes. I bought two mini boxes to give to two friends for the holidays and guess what? I ended up eating both boxes of chocolate one night while wrapping several gifts. Talk about temptation! Now I just don’t by any.
