Why was Howard Hughs so successful? What was his secret?

Hi,I read in a history book today that Howard Hughs, once the richest man in the world,  was successful because of his lucky penny. As a kid he found it in his can of speghetti-o’s. He lcked it clean and put it in a match box and put it in his favorite pocket and kept it with him at all times. When he died they put it on his eye but they needed another one for his other eye so they bought the speghetti-o’s corporation, but didn’t find any pennies in any of the cans. That is why no one inherited much from Howard Hughs. Most of his fortune went to the owners of speghetti-o’s. I mean, if you were his thirteenth cousin one hundred times removed you could get a lawyer and go to court and maybe get your can of speghetti-os but you aren’t going to find any lucky pennies in it. They x-rayed them all. They burried him with his lucky penny and his other eye still open and now there are a dozen armed gaurds and helicopters flying over his grave site because everyone wants his lucky penny. Thery are afriad soemone might dig him up. A lot of people bring gifts to the guards with no strings attached hoping they will leave their posts for a smoke but they ought to know why leave your post when the gifts keep coming in. They’d be fools  to do that, and the fool detector says they’re OK. That ’s the new invention made by Pinkertons and Norton Anti Virus, so it isn’t likely that any  lucky penny is going anywhere. They got everything sowed up. Even the penny on some stuffed man’s eye. Oh, well. back to the drawing board.

    Darklin,

Howard Hughes was famous for aviation, and oil drilling. He left behind many corporations, including Hughes Oil Tools, which seems to have locations all over the Texas Gulf Coast area. You can’t spit without hitting one of their facilities!

Hi, darklin. I corrected the article for those who might not know who Howard Hughs was. I forgot that was a long time ago. Thanks for the unforgettable lesson in basic writing!

Howard Hughes was such an eccentric individual, nothing would surprise me! I had no idea about the penny in his eye – just amazing! I’ll leave the Spaghetti-o’s for others…
