A poem reflecting how the human spirit causes us to act and respond in different ways to various situations.
Human Spirit – Susan Varo 2-17-2008
I did not ask myself today
Who’d come with me to fly away
I’ve learned that others will not take flight
Though I’ve tried asking with all my might
I know I used to be that way
But things have changed me to who I am today
Some create a path then don’t go near it
Sometimes it’s all about the human spirit
Many put dreams and desires and so much more
In a room filled with fear then close the door
Some things aren’t meant to be kept on hold
But some stay this way until they are old
Regrets at the door when they become aware
And look in to find just emptiness there
It’s too late now for some to hear it
Sometimes it’s all about the human spirit
There are others who never look to the past
For some the future came too fast
Some may find their journey’s end
Some may return some never again
So many ask what there life is to be
Others just wonder but that’s just not for me
I may not know the answers I too have some doubt
So I explore for solutions to what it’s about
There may be no purpose for what we’re here for
Just some unfinished business and nothing more
It’s not just about the question why
But how we live until we die
Many roads are left open for some I suppose
Like me and many and then there are those
That will never journey because they fear it
But it’s all about the human spirit
