Last night I couldn’t sleep

Thinking about about tomorrow

For I would be married to a beauty

That’s smart, intelligent

With a winning smile

It would be my lucky day

For we would be joined as husband

And wife in holy matrimony

When I popped the question

I was surprised when she said, “yes”

With gleeful eyes

I felt a tingling sensation down my spine

We would really be exchanging wedding vows

Saying, “I do”

I would be sure to dress in my specially

Made classic gray suit for the occasion

With my signature red tie and black

Pointed tip shoes

I’d be waiting for my bride all decked out

In the purity of white to walk down the aisle

As she debuts her flowing dress

With a tiara and trail

At that exciting moment

She moved gracefully down the aisle

Escorted by my father-in-law to be

To stand beside me

I recalled the elegance of the whole spectacle

With the bridesmaids dressed in purple

And the groomsmen also in classic gray

That preceded her entrance

But the only thing that I kept thinking

Was, “where was my wedding band

That I had to exchange with her to seal

Our union as a symbol of our love.”

I didn’t remember which one of us

Had our ring slipped on first

“Was it me or her?”

I was partly confused but excited

Completely dazzled by it all

However, once we were joined

As husband and wife

We sat at the head table

When the music began to play

I led her

To the dance floor and danced

Our first dance as husband and wife

Imagine how it felt doing a slow waltz

With my own wife

After the reception had begun

And speeches were made

Guests joined in the merriment

They partook of a variety

Of sumptuous foods and drinks

Waited until our three tiered cake

With icing and silver balls were cut

It was followed by my bride’s bouquet toss

WIth this new beginning my wife and I

Drove off into the sunset
