This is dedicated to my Uncles Johnny & Brian and to all of the soldiers out there protecting others with their lives.
Combat boots and dented dog tags,
Gritty teeth and major jet lag.
Meals that taste worse than dirt,
Packs that make us sweat and hurt.
We do it not for the glory nor fame,
We do it not so someone knows our name.
We do it because we love our towns,
We do it because we would lay it ALL down.
Our lives are ours because of them,
The ones that fought and gave us our hymns.
This land is beautiful through and through,
Though without our freedom, what would we do?
I am a soldier from my head to my toes,
I am here protecting everything you know.
When duty calls I step up to the plate,
Knowing fully, what could be my fate.
I do it for you, my family and friends,
I will continue to do this until the end.
My land, My country, My freedom tis what I hold dear,
Say what you may, but my calling is here.
To protect and serve all those that need,
To bandage and care for all those that bleed.
To take down those that threaten my team,
To cook, clean, care and continue to dream.
To help with everything that I see,
I am an American and I stand for freedom for you AND for me.
