I Am Not Sleeping.
I awoke with a start,
Realized it was still dark,
So I moved ever so slowly
As not to disturb the woman
Who holds my heart.
I look at her sleeping like a baby
so calm but so sexy so I think ‘hmmm…maybe’
I want to wake you, to see your eyes smile,
to hear you say morning sweet heart, with those shining eyes.
I want to kiss you, to love you and hold you,
But Yet I remain propped on one elbow lightly holding you.
You are so amazing to me honey,
the way you do all the things you do.
The way you keep the house running smooth,
and at work, well, they think you walk on water.
Of course you do…it’s expected
And your child, our child, is Just like you.
But you work so hard every day and the years pass.
But looking at you sleep, you look a young lass.
As I lay watching you sleep.
Lines hidden in the shadow, just smooth skin, do I see.
I often feel so in adequate next to you
With all the amazing and wonderful things you do.
I often feel like I do nothing but I know I do.
I work 60 hours to help us have the life we love.
As a team we keep a home like a hand in a glove.
But is this enough, is it really?
Do I do enough to prove to you my love?
Do I say enough of what my heart truly feels?
Do I love you enough…am I man enough for you?
Really?
I’m not sleeping baby and I am feeling so alone,
Lost without your smile, your kiss, your….
Just then you stir.
You wake for a few seconds
You smile and the sun goes nova,
You kiss me and I tingle all over.
You say you love me and go back to sleep.
Oh how I love you, and I’ll never know how to say it.
To tell you, show you, so you will always know.
But day after day I will keep trying
Until my very last day as I lay dying
Because I really want and need you to know.
You are my world, my reason for living.
Your smile makes my heart sing.
Your kisses…, oh baby what a shiver they bring.
