When I was a child I never wanted to be superman

I just wanted to be a man

Superman is indestructible and he wasn’t brave

A normal man would get squash like a lunch able sent to his grave

You see you can’t be brave if you’re unbreakable

Which means superman feared nothing

Yet we have Troops going out every night doing something

Protecting people from bad

Others risking there life, traveling countries to keep a child from being sad

Then you have the firemen putting out fires

Plus the social worker teaching kids to be good and be more than liars

And I think about superman; he’s clever, strong, and good yet never fearless

In the case of battle a solider who fought for the country is somewhere earless

And even when missing a ear he still show courage furthermore hear with his heart

He knows he can be killed but still want to do his part

So then I say would superman fight for our country without fear

As blood fall from his head would he shed a tear

And the answer is no, superman is not brave because he can’t get hurt

He is not like a solider camping in the dirt,

Trying to rid the country of the worst

Superman does not get afraid

The ones on the 9/ll plane was brave

They tried to save themselves and innocent people

Unlike superman they feared of dying but had to rid the evil

In addition to,firemen, lost lives trying to put the fire out

Superman would blow the fire away without a fear or doubt

Because he is made of steel

If made of steel, how can you feel,

How does he know what’s fictional or real

And how can you call your self brave if you cannot have fright

Many people of 9/11 lost limps, lives and even sight

But beyond superman they were brave because they wasn’t indestructible

To me being scared shows that you are brave because you know your not indestructible

In fact superman couldn’t keep a relationship because he wasn’t afraid of love

Many people are afraid to open their hearts due to what love does

And that makes them brave

This poem is not to make people change

It’s intended to make you say, hey I’m not superman

I am a man or woman that can be hurt, have no powers nor super human strength

But what I have is courage within

And that is better than being superman or a super hero

They are super people who were 9/ll hero’s

God bless all who gave their lives on September 11th., We have not forgotten!
