Tales of Unemployment.

Unemployed here, just checking in you see,
Friday is my 4-month anniversary!
A lot of things have taken place
Many more have joined my ranks
However, on a personal note, it all stinks!
Obama, try as he may has an insurmountable task
He’s fighting to put at bay
Meanwhile, I’ve learned how to live off of one-third of what I was formerly paid,
With a little bit of planning, cutting back, and a lot of hustling, sometimes rent can be made
Being Black in America has made it worst it seems,
because we are the least considered in our plight for jobs and a share in the American dream
And still the last of the last that are even discussed on the evening news,
Why, it’s the Chrysler dealership, and the man-in-the-moon,
anybody but a black office worker, down on her luck—who cares to throw her a few bucks?
Constantly I’m inquiring, asking, applying, practically begging for a job,
But alas, the field is complex and littered with a mob
There are fresh young college grads, a zillion other office workers, many less qualified,
and lest not forget the auto workers, from the lineman to the salesman, all along for the ride
to grab a slice of the American Pie they say
However, I AM UNEMPLOYED for another day
