A poem about searching for the way things were and why things have changed.
I Can’t Find My Place – By Susan Varo – 10/11/05
Neither here nor there
Nor up above
I cannot immerse myself
Into the things I love
My carefree spirit
Is spiraling down
No winds to catch me
From a cold solid ground
I’ve called out to Heaven
My God are you there
I cannot keep losing my way
There is too much to fear
These are changing times for me
And it’s so hard to face
Upon exploring opportunities
I cannot find my place
Where do I find the answers
Is there a particular place
Or have I been forgotten
Within time and space
Perhaps like a museum
In a section where destiny holds
Those like myself
In a hall of lost souls
Although I am breathing
I still need fresh air
Possibilities surround me
But for me they’re not there
I want mountains past rivers
With wildflowers and streams
I need to get started
Fulfilling my dreams
Why is nothing happening for me
What have I done
It’s like a cloud came down from somewhere
And blocked out all my sun
Where are my friends and family
Like how it was back when
Is this just the beginning
Or the beginning of the end
