A father asks his daughter to make him a cup of tea but sick with the constant tea making the girl wants to get out of this task by reminding her father that the Sabbath is a day of rest, the father is a wily old fox and reminds her that there is a Commandment that children should love and honour their parents.

I wonder if when I croak it, to Heaven I will go. I’ve been a bit of a bad boy, my daddy said to me. I’ve broken nine Commandments, and the tenth is on the way. It actually is M U R D E R. I could murder, (a cup of tea)! Well thank you for asking nicely, I decided to reply, I wanted to answer cheekily, but could think of no reply. So I trotted to the kitchen to make the required brew, and, whilst the water boiled I mused on what to do.

I could boldly ask my daddy if he’d ever played away, ( I looked quite like a neighbour, not too many doors away)! I could ask if he was a believer, and leave a pregnant pause, before asking him quite calmly did he believe in men on Mars? I was working on my strategy to really catch him out. When I thought of a real cracker, but knew not how to spout! So I took a really deep breath (I think I shut my eyes), as I asked him did he really believe in all those sacred lines. Astonishingly he answered that yes, he really did.  So I baited him by asking ” And does that Include the Sabbath, my dearest learned dad?”

Now my daddy is a cute man, his brain moves rather quick. I think he saw my mind work, so he answered rather quick. The Sabbath is a day of rest (one thing we all agree). But think before you ask me now to make my own strong tea. Isn’t there a line or two that quite clearly seems to state, that we should love, and, honour our parents, (no matter what for they ask)? So surely that includes the occasional cup of tea, or have I got it wrong again, and, it means you pay me for your keep?
