A poem for a new friend at Triond. As I read one of her articles, something in me stirred to pen this for her to remember her best friend. A picture of the poem has also been submitted to the media section.
This poem is dedicated to LJ Spain in response to her article “I had a best friend“. The article is a moving account of her close friendship with a fellow church-goer. Something in me just stirred to want to pen this down. Do read her emotionally powerful article for yourself.
- dedicated to LJ Spain -
I just lost my best friend today
Each turns the other cheek and walked her way
Not turning back to look behind
If the other party would just change her mind
We had been friends for ten years now
In church our friendship was to be found
Then she had to go to another place
not knowing the things that she would face
I had to bring her home to stay with me
We were glad again, happy as can be
Except for work, we’ll be with one another
When you see one, hey, there’s the other
Home affairs soon became my chore
I couldn’t stay long with her any more
Many nights with others, out she’ll go
with people that I did not even know.
Now she’s called to say goodbye
Inside of me, I wonder why?
A best friend comes and then she goes,
where to now? Only heaven knows.
So I prayed to God,” Be kind to me
and keep me strong, lovingly”
That some day soon again I’ll find
a best friend that I can call as mine.
