Poetry, contemplation.

I hum along with the music

My mind wanders along the path my life has taken

It treks ahead to see what may lie ahead

I hum, I sway

I wonder at the velvet black darkness outside my window

What secrets hide in the velvet night?

Whose sorrows drift on the night wind?

Mine?

Old man from the docks?

Black dog hiding behind a leaning carport from his intoxicated owner?

Music changes

I think how I wish I could save all from their sorrow

Quiet

Music stops

Softly walking to check my children asleep in their warm beds

Scratch the dogs behind their ears before heading to my own bed

Wind rattles my window

Comfort wraps her arms around me

Sleep beckons me with his night sounds

Nature’s music

Wind

Rain drops on my sill

Settling house

My steady breathing of sleep
