Why not laugh it away?

Laughing away,
Finding humor day by day.
The secret to my life;
To laugh when pain arrives.

When things don’t go as I hope,
I need a way to cope.
Laughter is my friend,
And as long as I allow, it’s with me ‘til the end.

Holding on to faith,
Laughter must remain.
I laugh when I want to cry,
Forcing tears aside.

Though nothing is funny,
And though life is far from sunny,
I laugh just because I can…
It’s all I have, it’s all I can demand.

Impossible to change certain things
No matter how I wish answers would come on angels’ wings.
I laugh my way out of fear
Through uncertain tears.

“Why are you laughing?” one may say.
It’s just my way of dealing with the pain.
I laugh when I want to cry
And bid fear goodbye.
