A poem for the "I’m just tired" excuse.
I totally just lied when I said I was okay.
I only wanted you to go away.
But now I see when I’m all alone
I feel cold and empty to the bone.
Each day is a challenge to get through.
I can’t make it without you.
Or if I can, once the day is over,
I feel beaten and battered, thrown under a boulder.
So when you ask if I’m okay,
This thought will come back before the end of the day,
And despite half-closed eyes and shuffling feet
And the obvious fact that I lose sleep
Thinking of life without you here
And how miserable I’d be, that’s so clear,
If I just say that I’m just tired,
Consider me a total liar.
(I mean, that’s probably only half-true.)
But seriously, my life’s incomplete without you.
