Not a performer. But if I was, I’d probably feel like this.

Eyes afixed. Cameras roll.

Curtain draws open. Set lights brighten.

The composer readies his band. The director yells action.

The subject performs in front of a mass audience. The screenactor knows not how many people are watching; just that there’s an audience.

The stage performer must not slip or fall. The screen actor makes many mistakes.

The stage actor must be alive at all times. The screenactor may rest.

These are the experiences people dred. However, I long for them.

I long for the moment the curtain draws. I long for when the cameras roll.

I long for the applause. I long for the appraise.

The composer directs. The director commands.

These are the moments I hunger for. Yet,

I dread the day, any day, whether on stage or screen, that I fall.

If any actors feel this way, please, tell me why. Every actor had a different reason. Mines is for the benefit of being known. Of letting people know that I was here, that I existed. How about you?
