Love Poem.
I give you my love. I give of my time.
I give my shoulder to cry on, my ears to listen,
My eyes to see your needs, my strength to protect.
I promise you my life. God chooses what that life will be.
I sacrifice my self freely. I choose to give up myself, my time,
My strength, my thoughts, my possessions,
My very heart and soul as gifts.
I offer to lead you to the greatest adventure as my gift.
The adventure of love.
We are told to love others as ourselves.
A man is told to love as he loves his own body.
A simple start to understanding love.
Simple for a simple person such as I. Mortal. Human.
Will there be obstacles to love?
Will there be problems communicating that love?
Are there more questions to be given?
Yes, there are questions.
Life is not clear to mere mortals.
But there is one thing that is clear to me.
I love you.
Do you love me?
Is there some type of man you would choose to love?
I know not the answers.
Flexible was I,
Trying to fit whatever form you chose as one you could love.
Questions asked to find out your thoughts and feelings of love. Games played and puzzles to solve.
I sought to understand the needs, and even the wants.
Needs can be cared for. Wants are harder.
Needs and wants. What is the difference?
We need food, but want candy.
We need clothing to protect us, but want fancy outfits.
Junk food is not healthy, good food cares for our needs.
Needs cared for. As God does for us.
Perhaps true love understood might return love as well.
Even more than before. A cycle continued.
True love doesn’t want selfishly; it cares for our deepest needs.
God’s true love promises to care for our needs.
Who am I to do any differently?
So what is true love?
True love is complete.
The physical, the spiritual, the social, the intellectual, the will,
The whole of a person, the life and very breath of being.
Each part interacts, or conflicts. The will decides.
The will chooses to love. The will keeps the parts together.
The will can be unselfish, or selfish.
But when the will brings together the whole of a being,
Love is so much sweeter.
Why do we ponder so much about love?
Why is so much time spent on love?
The answer, the fact, the truth that stands firm gives way.
Everything that exists came from love.
Our own will is dependent on love. Our soul feeds upon love.
God is love.
While the body dies from lack of physical food,
The soul dies from lack of spiritual food.
The Spiritual is least understood by mere mortals.
Who truly understands love? Or God?
While I can do all I can to nourish you with my love,
I find that the love I give is replenished.
Do I even begin to understand how this can be?
No, not I. I simply live in knowing that it exists.
So what is love?
I can tell you only this about love.
I love you.
