Sometimes you sit back and say “What just happened here?” Before you know it, the little child has blossomed into a young man, and there are so many things you meant to say. These are some of those things I meant to say, and now I have.

So small, so frail
See him sleep; exhale
Every move was so unreal
My son, my life
I gently kissed my wife
So this is how happiness feels

Young boy, off to school
So bright; he’s nobody’s fool
He really stood out in the crowd
Those grades; reading books
I’m in awe of his good looks
That boy of mine made me proud

Now he seems so grown
Nice suit and a new cell phone
Already he’s looking like a young man
The little boy’s in the backseat
Grade school now complete
Everything according to the plan

But it seems I blink my eyes
This older man he cries
Scared to see his baby leave the nest
But I know he’ll be just fine
No matter where he goes, he’s mine
In my eyes he’ll always be the best

I love you son

Dad

How sweet I’m gonna feel the same way about my two when they start to grow up, love this piece!

That is a beautiful sentimental poem. My son wrote me a poem about how he felt about me, 25 years ago. I still cry when I read it. It is the most treasured gift I ever got.
