Lament for a “real” hero, murdered in North West Africa in June 2009.

Your cruel death unnoticed by TV crews & press

Gunned down as you were in pursuit of righteousness

A victim of ’sectarian’ hate – left wife & kids behind

I hate such gross intolerance – how can men be so blind

Tears have flowed, mind benumbed – such a tragic loss

Your sacrifice a beacon bright – echoes of the Cross

You loved a people not you own, their lot strove to improve

My hero, fallen warrior – rest in the arms of Love
