It was quite unintentional but our garden this year appears to be all full of red blooms.

I glanced out of the window
At our cute little garden below,
And couldn’t help but admire
All the plants we’d been able to grow.
Then it suddenly struck me
Though it hadn’t entered my head
When we went to the garden centre
All the blooms that we’d bought were red.

The geraniums were a rich shade of scarlet
And the petunias grew in such array,
Their crimson petals glowing
On this beautiful sunny day.

The rose was trailing lazily
A fiery show by the garden gate,
And begonias in great profusion
In vermillion shades looked quite sedate.
The vibrant cherry coloured fuchsia
Hung gracefully to the ground,
And the magnificent ruby lily
Was the most elegant flower around.

I smiled at the sight of my choices
Then my heart suddenly filled with glee
As all of these beautiful flowers
Seemed to smile right back at me.
