It's strange that when people don't understand the meaning (or lack thereof) of a poem, they automatically assume it's because the poem itself is incredibly deep and profound.

Even stranger: Writers tend to get away with this and, thus praised, continue to write incomprehensibly.

Well, I have to say that I'm not impressed and that clear wording is not the death of artistic expression.
