A short poem about love, it’s ups and downs, and what we all realize at some point.

I remember when…. I held you as you suffered through pain You were crying into my chest Begging me to not let go Because you thought that you would drift forever If you didn’t hold on to me I remember The time you told me that I was the only person who always made you smile That no matter what, I could brighten up your day As long as you knew that I was there, you said Then you would be okay I remember When we stayed up late Talking to each other about our favorite memories And you told me that when I pulled you closer and gave you a smile You felt like the luckiest girl in the world But I also remember The time you told me you wished things were different The time you said that we wouldn’t last because I wasn’t caring enough The time I said I love you And you replied with a weak smile I’m beginning to see That you took more out of me Than you ever gave back

Nice poem, boot wearing deep, sounds like someone on the way to a psychotherapist on the verge of serious depression.
If I had a candle I’d light it for this poem.
