I said goodbye today

To fourteen years together

To a child we lost together

And a child we bore together.

I said goodbye today

to trying again and again

to attain the white picket fence

or at least a fence.

I said goodbye today

to the keeper of my secrets

and the guardian of my heart.

I told of the love I still had in many different ways

and he gave no reply.

That is why I had to say goodbye today.
