I See Myself in You.A simple poem about how an oldster feels when he feels he’s young again.

A toothless man visits his Alma mater

I see myself in you

Last evening I walked down memory lane,

The walk I passed some decades ago

At the commencement

Of my teen’s twas long ago

Today some half a century away,

I walked that path once again

And nostalgically recalled

Each and every lane

I walked through my memory

Ah! Of course once again

You held my hand

A young lad

How I was so very glad,

I shivered in the same tone

As yours

Down years had lapsed,

I was like you

Now once again,

As I walked that memory lane,

Recalling the ties

Of a half century lapsed,

You’re     my duplicate perhaps

You are so young now,

As I was then

The lane is the same

As twas then,

Yet you seemingly appeared to say

Sir, walk with me again

Down that memory lane

Twas was yours then

Now it’s fine,

You appear to be a duplicate of mine.

I am now in your place

As we walk together across the same place

As you did once

I assure you are one of us

As we hold hands

And walk together

For the last time once again

Let’s walk the walk

Through that lane twas yours once

And is mine now

Will be someone else’s soon

So as you feel the pulse of the vein

Hold my hands Sir

Alas not in vain,

Let’s walk through that memory lane

Finally for the last time

And only once again

A totales man visitas hais Alma mater

I se missal in You

Last venin I Walked down Memory lane,

The Walked I passé some decades ago

At the commencement

Of my teens twas long ago

Toray Somme hall a Century Awa,

How much we can see with the passage of time. Very ‘descriptive walk’. Keep writing……..

Great piece of writing. You remind the great Advaita philosophy, which states that everyone is part of one and the same being. There are no two beings. Keep it up.
