I like to be different, it is what keeps me alive.

I know I may be a bit off kilter
I may seem to be a bit odd
but I thrive on being different
and to be an imitation is what I am not

I may do things that seem crazy
and it may seem peculiar that I am shy
but we all get there when we get there
So to force it is not worth a try

I may be someone silly
At times I may act immature
but I can tell you that I am serious when I need to be
Of that I can be sure

I won’t always be your best friend
I don’t care if you like me
I can be a good shoulder to lean on
Just try not to offend me

I have not always been this way
So damn if I do, damn if I don’t
Care free, living crazy
Take it or leave it, I am just me

you really express your thoughts in this powerful poem. just keep in mind that God created each one of us as unique.

Very expressive of who you are, powerful. I think it is wonderful thing to be just who you are, not to pretend to be something your not for the sake of others. You might be interested in read one of my writes similar to the if you have not alreat “Differences”

    Hi Poetic Enigma!

I agree with Bernadette Louise; I also wrote a similar poem: must look for that book of scribbles. I especially like your:
\\\”I won\\\’t always be your best friend
I don\\\’t care if you like me
I can be a good shoulder to lean on
Just try not to offend me\\\”
Bernadette, has \\\”What a boring world it would be if in fact we were all the same/ Embrace and love all…\\\”
    Mine, says:
    \\\”far better I am what I am
to be myself, and not my sham,
than to be what seems better far\\\”
highlightig the just being other, than, damn any qualities; reminding of the other poem: celebrates us, all, so different, it even takes a declaration before any \\\’we\\\’can claim doing anything together (both possibly thinking of pop
stars, even then); another about being loners even in crowds. Must find them. Posted some new haikus, though. Keep posting!

So many people who are “normal” often try to fit into what society deems as “normal”. The world would be very dull if we were all the same.
