This is a poem about someone longing to go back to their homeland in "Indian country."

I want to go home

to where we walk through pine

tree filled forests spotting spotted deer

In their prance

I want to go home

To the place

where our skinned covered shoes

comfort the ground while we dance

I want to go home

where I stand near a misty spring

cleansing while I’m surrounded by the winged

I want to go home

to where I sing under the sun

I want to go home

where all of us unite singing as one

I want to go home

where we are taught to honor

Grandmothers and Grandfathers from birth

I want to go home

where we help each other heal by

digging up roots from mother earth

I want to go home

where our stories are past down through

generations

I want to go home

where our warriors fought to protect

our Nations

I want to go home

to where I pray under the sun

I want to go home

where all of us unite standing as one

This poem is excellent. I love the way you reference to the way things were when things were good for people. When we loved and helped each other out without thinking about payment for it. Keep up the good work. Love you, barb
