A nautical resolution.

My New Year’s resolution for two thousand ten
Is one that I’ve put off since I don’t know when
And the chance may never come my way again.
I want to go sailing with someone I know.

I want to see sunlight bounce off of her hair
And have her all alone to myself sitting there.
I know that she hasn’t a clue that I care.
I want to go sailing with someone I know.

She’ll rest while I wrestle with mainsail and jib
And laugh when I rub aching muscle and rib.
She’ll know that my past sailing days were a fib.
I want to go sailing with someone I know.

She doesn’t know that the light in her eyes
Reminds me of beautiful tropical skies.
She’s never known how my aching heart cries,
I want to go sailing with someone I know.

Just go and ask her, you old softie. You’re such a charmer that even Johnny wants to go with you. lol. See how everyone is eating this up – including myself. :P

A different theme for poetry. Somebody needs someone, these days, nights could be cold. Just don’t venture out to the open sea and sail with a mermaid ,lol.

A day dream that ripples and shimmers.Reminds me of my schooldays when we used to sail in a rickety boat across the ganges everyday.
    Beautiful lines.

  • nadinesimone on Jan 3, 2010

This was truly soft, soft like a lovers sigh, it caresses the senses like gentle waves lapping over your body as you lay consumed by the heat of the day. But are you playing cat and mouse with the reader here. Are you lamenting a love lost. Or are you referring to your alter ego. Or perhaps I think too deeply, and it is all superficial?!
